ORDER OF THE ARROW
2013 SPRING ORDEAL - Rancho Alegre
LATE FEE: A late fee of $10 will be assessed to all registrations after 5/14/2013.
ORDEAL CANDIDATES: There are nearly 100 candidates for Ordeal membership in the Order of the Arrow. Each candidate should have received a packet of information during their District Camporee or immediately afterwards in the mail. There are two Ordeals each year. This is the first; the second is in August at Camp French. Candidates must complete their Ordeal at one of these two events. During the Ordeal weekend, candidates will learn more about the Order of the Arrow through a series of trials and service. There is NO hazing allowed. BROTHERHOOD CANDIDATES: Brotherhood is the second honor in the Order of the Arrow. Eligibility for Brotherhood: (1) 2013 dues must be paid; (2) It has been at least 10 months since your Ordeal; (3) a letter must be sent to the Lodge Secretary detailing how you wish to continue serving Scouting and the Lodge; and (4) Attend an Ordeal weekend and go on a meditative walk witha guide and other Brotherhood candidates. Special packets for Brotherhood candidates should go out about April 10.
ALL PARTICIPANTS: Registration may be made on-line at the Council website or by check to the Order of the Arrow, Los Padres Council, 4000 Modoc Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93110. A $10 late fee is assessed for any registration not received by May 13, 2013. Please remember that even though you registered on-line, you must bring with you the completed registration form and a COPY of your medical form. All participants will be performing acts of service on Saturday of the Ordeal. Please bring old clothing and footwear appropriate for trail work, painting, and brush clearance.
ELANGOMATS: Current members of the Order are requested to sign up as an Elangomat for the Ordeal. We will need at least 6 individuals to perform this very important task. If you wish to be an Elangomat, contact Lodge Chief Sean Howell.

Directions to Rancho Alegre:
FIRST, do NOT follow any directions you may receive from Google Map, Mapquest, or your GPS. You are guaranteed to get lost. This is because there are several 2680 Hwy. 154 along that road - some ten miles apart. Instead follow these instructions to arrive at the correct location for Rancho Alegre
Take Highway 154 (San Marcos Pass Road) from either the South or the North entrances on Highway 101. This highway is 32 miles long and Rancho Alegre is at the midway point approximately 1.25 miles below the main entrance to Lake Cachuma County Park. The main entrance to Rancho Alegre is directly opposite the roadside telephone identified as 154 163. The 163 indicates that it is 16.3 miles from the Santa Barbara entrance to Hwy. 154 from Hwy. 101.
From the south, the entrance is on your left. From the north, the entrance is on your right. Continue up the entry road for approximately 1/4 mile to the camp gate.
