Registration costs $30 for adults and $20 for youth (under 12 years of age).

Award Descriptions & Requirements
District Award of Merit
This award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding capacity at the district level. It is the highest honor that the district may bestow on a Scouter. The District Award of Merit is a council award presented by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by councils.
Jack Cantin Pacific Coast District Scout of the Year Award
Jack Cantin was an Eagle Scout in Troop 33, until he was lost in the Montecito mudslide in 2018 at age 17. Jack exemplified Scout Spirit and truly lived by the Scout Oath and Law. In Jack’s memory, we recognize a deserving Scout (registered in Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, or Sea Scouts) as the Pacific Coast District Scout of the Year.
Spark Plug Award
Every unit has a registered adult leader that provides the “spark” that keeps the Scouting program on track. Each unit determines their own guidelines for their unit, but some examples of activities deserving this special recognition are: organizing and leading a major unit event; organizing and maintaining unit records; assisting and training new adult leaders; or contributing more to the unit in their role than was required or expected.
Commissioner's Grit Award
Commissioner Teams often have at least one Commissioner who demonstrates exceptional “grit” under challenging or adverse circumstances, although they may not seek attention or recognition. Some examples of activities deserving this special recognition are: dedication and continuing participation while facing personal or health challenges (even if they are not currently able to fulfill all of the "duties" of their Commissioner position), remaining a member of the Commissioner Team after moving out of the region, and exceptional efforts to prevent units from disbanding.
Veteran Awards
Scouting offers a Veteran Award to recognize individual members for their tenure in Scouting. These awards are presented once every 5 years.
Knots Awarded at the District Level
Most scout uniforms have a few Knot patches sewn above the left pocket. Each of these knots have their own requirements, and an extensive list can be found here. Some of the Knots that are presented at the District Recognition Banquet include:
- Unit Leader Award of Merit
- Den Leader's Training Award
- Scouter's Training Award
