Training Update

Joining and Orientation Courses On-Line

For a chart of required training courses by Scouting position, click HERE.

All Joining and Orientation courses are now on-line at my.Scouting.org.  If you are a new leader, you first need to take the “Youth Protection Training course and submit the completion certificate with your Adult Registration form to a council office.

After your registration is accepted, you will receive a BSA ID# then you will be able to log-on to myScouting.org and take basic orientation training for your Scouting position.  Follow these simple steps:

  1. First, go to www.my.Scouting.org and sign in; if you are new to scouting, you will be asked to establish an account; you will be asked for your e-mail address and your password; your password is your BSA registration membership number (it is found on your membership card).
  2.  Second, once you have put that information in you will be directed to the My.Scouting website.  Click on HOME in the upper left corner, then My Dashboard.  This will open the My Training page where you will have the option of updating YPT (REQUIRED YEARLY) or other Required or Orientation Courses for your Scouting position.
  3.  Third, complete "Fast Start" and  “This is Scouting” courses. The courses are set up so you can start them, and, if you need to, stop and come back at a later date. The system takes you back to where you were when you stopped, so resuming the course is really easy.
  4. Finally, when you have completed a course, you can print a certificate of completion for your records. Once you have established an account, online training is automatically linked to your BSA Training Record.

Check out the new Scouting U  Learning Center and you’ll see all the courses that are available to you and which are required for your registered position . Additionally, you can fill out tour plans on-line, advancement on-line, rechartering on-line, register for national events (like the National Jamboree), and, if you are a Unit Commissioner, fill out your Unit Visit Tracking Report.
